PhD Project

Microstructure characterisation of HP40 alloys
Minshi’s PhD project is to establish the effect of composition on creep via the microstructure characterisation. The microstructures of two different HP40 alloys will be characterized, in particular the precipitate content, distribution and nature.

Minshi Wang started his undergraduate education in 2008 at Harbin Institute of Technology, China. During the 2011-2012 academic year, Minshi attended a 3+1 exchange project between the University of Birmingham and Harbin Institute of Technology and was successfully awarded B.Eng. degrees for material science from both universities. Currently Minshi is a PhD student in the Electron Microscopy Group focusing on microstructure characterisation and creep performance of HP40 austenitic stainless steel.
